My 1st Trash the Dress

Just to clear things up....

" it's about creation, not destruction." This is what they'll tell you if you check out the actual trash the dress website at http://www.trashthedress.com/. Typically, these sessions are done after the wedding so that you can relax, and focus on getting some amazing, relaxed and FUN images instead of worrying about getting a tear in your dress...these can also be done with the groom which is a great opportunity for some "steamy" pics!

This was the very first session I've had a chance to do ( I HIGHLY suggest all of my future brides include this as part of their package)! I shot with Brooke, my "teacher" Eric and our model was the fabulous, up-for-anything Lindsay. The elements that day were not working in our favour....we had a full outing with Lind's toddler in tow (who was an angel)! Brooke carting around her massive belly (it's really not that big, but I know it feels like it)! and to top it all off it was SNOWING! ( The 1st pic proves it)! Regardless of all these obstacles, we managed to pull off quite a few ...in my opinion, at least.... gorgeous images!

Little Missy & my new "baby"

No....there isn't any actual baby here...the one I'm speaking of is my new LENS!! This thing is one incredible piece of glass. Sharp. Clear. And MASSIVE!! Now all I have to do is steady my hands enought to use it properly. For you fellow photographers it's the Canon 70-200 f2.8. These were my first images taken with it.....of course Nevaeh was nearby to practice on!

St Patrick's Baby!

This little sweetheart is baby "T" who was born on St Paddy's day.....she was 2 weeks when these were taken. Thanks to our good friends J and Nic for allowing me to take these!

Oldies but Goodies

This beauty is one of my very dearest friends firstborn. Baby "P" was 2 weeks old when these were done, and she was such a doll....didn't make a peep! These were taken on Vancouver Island in March. Welcome to the world little one; you are one lucky girl!

Aunty "M"

The start of spring....

Balloons. Helium-filled, pretty in pink balloons. All kids love them, right? Wrong. Yesterday's shoot with baby "D" proved that fact when she wanted absolutley nothing to do with them. And of course I didn't want to waste this photo-op , so I dragged my Little Nevaeh down the street to a fabulous little field complete with rickety fences and old barns. Nevaeh LOVES balloons....I've never had to even tie one onto her wrist because she has a death grip on them and won't let go for ANYTHING! Needless to say, I thought it would be cute to let one go and have her chase it through the field....this definately didn't go over well, and it took me a good ten minutes to get her calmed down (with the promise of Daddy bringing home a new yellow one later that night)!

And although I had to shoot at high noon, AND when I returned home my Dad told me a package had been sitting here all morning for me ( my fancy new lens)! I am more than happy with these new images of her....I truly cannot wait for the spring to arrive so I can shoot outdoors to my hearts content!

Lil Miss "D"

Monday evening I did a shoot with 14 month old "D". Sassy, opinionated, independant....and totally adorable! She definately wasn't going to follow any plan I had in mind (I'd brought balloons, toys, snacks etc..) she wanted to do her own thing and nobody was going to change her mind. So to all the parents out there assuming we photographers will always be able to draw smiling faces out of your wee ones....it doesn't always happen. And in little "D"s case, these images capture her "real" self and that is what I'm always aiming to accomplish.

So, thank you Mum for allowing me to photograph your gorgeous girl and I look forward to having another session with both your girls once the orchards are in bloom!

A brand-new Blog!

Since this is my very first blogger entry, I'm going to write a little about my life right now, so that when I look back I can (hopefully )! see how far I've come!

My wonderful partner Brooke and I have decided to begin our own seperate journeys. It's tough to work together when, although we have VERY similar tastes in everything....our lives of course aren't parallel. I'm going left when she's going right and vice versa. This way we'll have the best of both worlds, still being able to hire the other to second shoot, bounce ideas off of, and in my case....still use Brooke's amazing design skills (stay tuned for my new logo and business cards)!


As for my personal life.....things are finally starting to settle; possibly for the first time in my life. I've always been somewhat of a gypsy but my husband Mike and I have bought our own place which we move into in a few weeks....and we plan on staying put for at least a few years! I am, of course, working on making this dream of photography a reality, as well as taking the real estate course (to hopefully support my photography dream)!


Our daughter is 2and a half and is SO full of personality it's hard to take it all in sometimes....she is silly, smart, stubborn, opinionated, passionate, fiery, loving, affectionate, coy, bossy and VERY adored. Yes, it took that many words to sum her up. She was definately my inspiration for starting out on this journey. I really, truly am so happy to be where I am and have the people around me I do.
